Sorry folks - due to the draconian, and more than just a little patronising, approach that Telstra have taken to this blog service, I have upped stumps and offed to WordPress.

Please feel free to visit my new, and less censored, blog here: http://peppergroyne.wordpress.com/

Today S'cked

Just going to have a general whinge ... it was one of those days when the little things all went pear-shaped.

Not enough sleep ... stupid drivers on the road ... forgot the stroller when shopping so had to man-handle an increasingly tired 2-yr old ... camera mob cut negatives into 4's not 6's ... my beloved Nikon film scanner crapped itself ... not enough sleep.

Anyhoo, now that's off my chest, I feel a little better :)

....

And now I'm not ... just tried to save this post and bl00dy BigBlog prevented me saving it because it had the word s'cked in it (but with the 'u') and gave me the following error:

ERROR: Text contains the following naughty words : [S'cked]

Aaaarrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhh ... why is a bloomin' blogging tool censoring me!!!!!!!!!

Further Aaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!! ... went I went to save after updating the naughty words it logged me out!

More Indy, Indy, Indy

I must say though, the whole show was rather spectacular ... the amount of money that goes into the display simply mind-boggling.

As a quasi-greenie, at one level the amount of green-house gasses, fossil-fuel consumption and general display of excess and wastage was offensive. On another level, the visceral experience that is a monster V8, supercharged, fuel-injected and very, very loud was incredible.

Indy, Indy, Indy

Went to the Indy 300 event on the Gold Coast today as a guest of work colleagues ... and I wouldn't do it any other way.

Firstly, the cost to get in for the genereal punter for one day is over $80!
Next, to drink anything alcoholic will set you back a small fortune ... simple pre-mixed bourbon and cola was $7.70 a can!
Finally, there was the great unruly masses that this type of event attracts. I don't like the think of myself as elitist, but I also don't like to include myself in the collective that think it's OK to take a leak in creek flowing through parklands surrounded by thousands of their fellow citizens.

Ahh, now that's out of the way, the event itself was fairly impressive. Loud noises, plenty of entertainment and very well organised. My favourite bit being that we could park out of town for only $6 all day and get a free bus to the event and back.

Nice one Indy :}

The Dance of the Butterflies

I was totally mesmerised this afternoon by a pair of butteflies dancing in the late afternoon light while a gentle breeze blew across our back deck. In one of those rare moments of calmness and peacefulness, I was taken away on the moment and could only watch these two insects flitting about in some form of mating ritual that had them gracefully spiralling and looping across my backyard.

It was a very beautiful sight that I just wanted to share :}
